Karl Gardner is an organizer, educator, and student based in Toronto. He is a member of No On Is Illegal-Toronto and is involved in Indigenous solidarity work inside and outside the city. He is pursuing a PhD in Political Science at 91ÑÇÉ«, where his research focuses on the role of radical migrant justice movements in creating and cultivating sanctuary cities in Canada.

Dr. Kevin Ward

Kevin Ward is a Professor of Human Geography and Director of the at the University of Manchester and a Visiting Professor at The City Institute, 91ÑÇÉ«.Ìý His current work involves rethinking what is meant by ‘the urban’ in urban politics, as elements of different places are assembled and reassembled to constitute particular ‘urban’ political realms. Kevin has published over a 100 journal articles and book chapters, and his books include the co-authored volumes Urban Sociology, Modernity and Capitalism. (Macmillan, 2002) and Spaces of Work: Global Capitalism and the Geographies of Labour (Sage, 2004) Kevin is also editor of Researching the City: a Guide for Students (Sage, 2013) and co-editor of Neoliberalization: States, Networks, Peoples (Blackwell, 2007), Mobile Urbanism: Cities and Policymaking in the Global Age (Minnesota University Press, 2011) and Researching the City (Sage, 2013).Ìý He currently edits Urban Geography.

Dr. David Buckeridge, Associate Professor, McGill University

Dr. Buckeridge is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University in Montreal. He is also a Medical Consultant to the Montreal Public Health Department, the Quebec Public Health Institute, and the Quebec Institute for Excellence in Health and Social Services. Dr. Buckeridge has consulted on surveillance to organizations such as the Public Health Agency of Canada, the US Institute of Medicine, the US and Chinese Centers for Disease Control, the European Centers for Disease Control, and the World Health Organization.

Dr. Cory Neudorf, Chief Medical Health Officer, Saskatoon

Dr. Cory Neudorf has been working as a Medical Health Officer in Saskatoon since 1994. He has held various leadership roles in public health at the national level including: President of the Public Health Physicians of Canada, Chair of the Canadian Public Health Association, and Chair of the Canadian Population Health Initiative Council. He is the current President of the Urban Public Health Network. Dr. Neudorf is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine. His research interests include health inequalities, health status indicators and surveys, health status monitoring and reporting, and integrating population health data and geographic information systems into public health and health planning.

ÌýDr. Patricia O’Campo, PhD

Professor, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto

As a social epidemiologist, Dr. O’Campo has conducted a number of longitudical and cross-sectional studies in the areas of the social determinants of adult mental health, intimate partner violence, children’s well-being (such as youth violence or school readiness and perinatal health) as well as clinic and community based evaluations of programs concerning smoking cessation, prevention of perinatal transmission of HIV, prevention of infant mortality and homelessness.

Dr. Harris Ali is a Professor and GPD in the Department of Sociology.Ìý Dr. Ali has published on toxic contamination events and disease outbreaks.Ìý His current research focuses on the relationship between globalization, urbanization and infectious disease spread.Ìý His most recent research involves the spread of tuberculosis amongst the homeless in Toronto, environmental justice and political economy, as well as the potential of complexity theory to investigate environmental health phenomena.

The Executive Learning Centre (ELC) is centrally located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Easy access from Highway 400 running north-south and Highway 407 running east-west, 20 minutes from Pearson International Airport. From the airport, take Highway 427 north to Highway 407 east, exit at Keele Street and travel south, make a right at 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard, the main entry to the campus, and follow the campus signs to the ELC.

From Highway 400 travelling north, exit at Finch Avenue east to Sentinel Road and turn left. Proceed north on Sentinel Road and follow the campus signs to the ELC.

From Highway 400 travelling south, exit at Highway 7 east, take the Keele Street exit and travel south, make a right at 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard, the main entry to the campus, and follow the campus signs to the ELC. The campus is easily accessible by car, bus or GO transit.

Student Move TOIn 2015-2016, the presidents of the four Toronto universities funded and collaborated on the project in order to develop the first-ever comprehensive survey of university student travel behavior, trends and needs across seven campuses in the GTA.

The four presidents’ second collaborative initiative is now underway and addresses questions around housing affordability and access to affordable housing for students, a challenge that has by all accounts reached a crisis point in the Toronto region.
