Urban questions have been central to the Marxist tradition since Frederick Engels鈥檚 The Condition of the Working Class in England. In turn, Marxist research on a wide range of topics from imperialism and gentrification to planning, social movements and everyday life have helped establish radical currents in geography, planning and urban studies in the last two generations. Motivated by the presence of visiting scholar Francesco Biagi, this panel discusses the state of the art in Marxist urban research, delineating major advances and new challenges in the field.
