I've been giving coworkers and people that I'm close with helpful hints to identify racial biances and different thought processes towards others closer to them than they think.
We tend to only look at media and social avenues to be aware of when it can be right in our offices our work environment.

Comment on Highlights from 2022: Embracing change, lifelong learning and critical steps for EDI by Louisa Zaffino /dfa/2022/12/19/highlights-from-2022-embracing-change-lifelong-learning-and-critical-steps-for-edi/#comment-199 Tue, 20 Dec 2022 21:06:03 +0000 /dfa/?p=1711#comment-199 Carol,
Thank you for this year-end message. The line that resonated with me most is "each of these moments and feelings, and many more, represent a tile in the mosaic of the last year". For me, this year (and possibly the last 2 or 3), it couldn't be more true. When I think about the mosaic being a metaphor for the past, I find myself realizing and appreciating all the moments that didn't go right or seem to fit with "the plan". These seemingly misfit pieces suddenly make sense now that I've stepped back and taken in the whole picture. This reminder is one that I will consciously practice in
2023 as I piece together my next mosaic.
Happy Holidays and best wishes for a great year ahead!

As someone who also believes that education and engagement are crucial, your words "we do not have the luxury of sitting on the sidelines and expecting others to do the work that is necessary. As members of society striving for a just and equitable world, we all have a responsibility to fight anti-Black racism and racism in all its forms, so that together we can continue to elevate and celebrate each other" particularly resonated with me. Thank you for cultivating a space within the Division where all of us can be actively engaged in this critical topic.

When one spends time away from all the noise, there are always ideas brewing in the brain that need to be brought into fruition.

When the pandemic hit and there were few places to venture physically, I also discovered that I loved gardening. I now have a little kitchen garden in my backyard, where I am now growing my own kale, cilantro, parsley, and tomatoes.

Thank you for sharing Maria. What type of seedlings are you nurturing? If you do go on any virtual tours, please share your experience.
