Three outstanding Dahdaleh faculty fellows received Lassonde Research Awards Celebration recognizing their exemplary achievements.
Professor Stephanie Gora received Lassonde Innovation Fund in Category C: Research Projects Working Directly on or Towards one of the UN Sustainable Development Goal) for her project titled, 鈥淐ontrolling biofilm formation and microbial recontamination in secondary water storage containers with UV light emitting diodes and targeted cleaning procedures鈥. Additionally, Prof. Gora successfully demonstrated knowledge mobilization by leading an Arctic Water Research Symposium that brought in academics and Arctic water professionals across Canada and Greenland.
Recognized for securing substantial, strategic, and competitive funding, including NSERC Alliance, NSERC I2I, and 91亚色鈥檚 Catalyzing Interdisciplinary Research Cluster, Professor Satinder Brar was appointed the inaugural Director of One Water (Water Management, Artificial Intelligence, Technologies, Education and Sustainability, Resource Recovery & Reuse). She was also named Stanford鈥檚 top 2% of the world鈥檚 top researcher list (both career-long & single-year) and a multi-chapter author and editor to a recently published book titled, 鈥淢odular Treatment Approach for Drinking Water and Wastewater鈥.
Professor Usman Khan was recognized for his work on the revamp of the Safe Water Optimization Tool at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research. The new innovations will help aid workers to unlock invaluable information, including water-quality data. He also recently delivered a micro-lecture exploring why the most vulnerable often face the highest flooding risks.
