Ailiya Rizwan is an Honors Biomedical Science student with a minor in Global Health. She volunteers at Hospice Vaughan, providing comfort to end-of-life patients and their bereaved families. As the two-time elected President of Women in White Coats at 91ÑÇÉ«U, she addresses the underrepresentation of women in STEM by offering mentorship, learning opportunities, and a website with free academic, mental health, & professional resources. She co-organized 91ÑÇÉ«U’s first, no-fee Wrapping & Taping workshop series and a cross-faculty Med-Tech Case Competition focused on creating a diabetes diagnostic algorithm, attracting over 100 participants and professionals. She is an aspiring physician & a passionate social advocate who strives for health equity through an interdisciplinary lens of social determinants.

Currently, Ailiya is a Global Health intern under the mentorship of Dr. Godfred Boateng in the Global and Environmental Health Lab, where she is conducting qualitative data analysis to understand how energy insecurity manifests at the household level in low- and middle-income countries, with specific focus on the effect on women, infants and children.
