Dr. Takudzwa J. Mtisi is a Clinical and Translational Scientist with over 15 years of experience spanning biomedical research, clinical laboratory science, higher education, implementation science, and global health program management across Africa. She holds a PhD in Translational Medicine from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Therapeutics from the University at Buffalo, State University of New 91ÑÇÉ«, an Executive MBA, and an MSc in Medical Microbiology.

Her work focuses on translating scientific evidence into practical, scalable, and contextually relevant solutions that improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Throughout her career, Dr. Mtisi has led and coordinated multidisciplinary research and implementation projects in HIV, cancer, non-communicable diseases, mental health, and health systems strengthening. Her research interests include implementation science, global mental health, adolescent and youth health, health equity, clinical and translational research, and capacity strengthening.

At the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research, Takudzwa serves as Program Manager for the YMind Africa initiative, a multi-country partnership funded by Wellcome and led by 91ÑÇÉ«. Building on successful pilot work in Zimbabwe, YMind Africa aims to strengthen partnerships, implementation readiness, and contextual adaptation of youth mental health interventions across several African countries. In this role, she supports strategic planning, partnership development, implementation coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and collaboration among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and youth partners across Africa, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Mtisi is passionate about advancing equitable access to evidence-based health interventions and strengthening the capacity of health systems and communities to improve the well-being of young people and other underserved populations.
