Description

Under the direction of the Director, Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research (DIGHR), and day-to-day supervision by the Knowledge Dissemination Strategist, DIGHR, the Communications Assistant designs and writes both print and digital communications material.
 
Basic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design creative materials to support research & operational projects
  • Develop & schedule twitter & facebook posts
  • Update the primary DIGHR website. This includes writing News posts and Events descriptions
  • Update internal activity database
  • Design communications material & conduct outreach to promote DIGHR events
  • Stay in regular contact with supervisors and meet regularly to keep all parties informed
  • Act as a representative of the DIGHR at events as assigned
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current undergraduate 91ÑÇÉ« student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study)
  • Experience writing in a professional capacity, including copywriting for web and print
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general design principles
  • Experience with current design software, particularly Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Experience with social media, particularly Facebook & Twitter
  • Experience with content management systems, particularly WordPress
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in HTML and CSS an asset
  • Experience with Airtable an asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience developing communication materials according to brand guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills: professional email/phone correspondence, public speaking and presentation proficiency
  • Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds/cultures
  • Excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets)
  • Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills
  • Students who are a good fit for this position are approachable, knowledgeable, and well organized. They will show ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
