Job Description

Under the supervision of and , the Global Antimicrobial Resistance RAY student (for up to 12 hours per week) will:

• Support the Global Strategy Lab's efforts to combat global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by working on projects that will directly support real-time policymaking efforts
• Learn about global health policy and to develop crucial research and policy analysis skills including conducting evidence syntheses
• Developing an open-access database of evidence-informed AMR interventions that provide decision makers with high-quality evidence summaries on AMR policy
• Explore ethical dimensions of AMR policies and interventions
• Examine the implications of AMR policies and interventions using a sex- and gender-based lens

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

• Compiling and cleaning quantitative and qualitative data in Excel, Word, and other software
• Conducting literature reviews
• Supporting evidence syntheses using standardized methodology
• Creating figures and tables
• Managing sources using reference management software
• Generating data visualizations such as figures and infographics

Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:

• Critical thinking
• Conducting literature review
• Preparing presentations and written outputs of research
• Editing and formatting drafts
• Professional communication, including international and cross-cultural professional interaction and communication

Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:

• Methodological training on data analysis
• Subject matter training on antimicrobial resistance
• Regular status meetings with your supervisor

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate 91ÑÇÉ« student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study, including global health)
• Demonstrated interest in global health
• Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with conducting literature reviews
• Demonstrated knowledge of research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative and/or integrative)
• Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information Skills and resourcefulness in drawing mind-maps and tabulating information is an asset
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation
• Demonstrated excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database, spreadsheets, forms, and slides; facility with Office 365 Apps)
• WordPress and social media skills are an asset
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including international and cross-cultural communication. Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff
• Demonstrated an eagerness to learn, support, and take on initiative
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
