Advising packages for BEd yr. 2 (Semester 3 and 4) 2026-27
The Office of Student Services held two virtual information sessions in late May for students in the BEd program who will be enrolled in Year 2 this F/W 2026-27 session. One of the sessions was recorded. Please listen
The Students Services team shared the Yr. 2 Advising/Enrollment packages for FW 2026 via email to students on Thursday, June 4th. Included in the package are the courses, Monday - Friday class schedule (google program calendars), ED 2 Practicum meetings, reminder to reapply for Police Record Check/VSS and other important dates/info for FW 2026 academic year. The date to enroll in ED/EDPR 3000 and ED/EDPR 4000 was June 8th, 2026. Please ensure enrolment for the two EDPR is completed no later than June 20th.
The Faculty of Education Students Services team will enroll the BEd students in the required courses by mid/late July. Year 2 BEd students will enroll in their ED/EDUC elective(s) end of July/early August after the Student Services team have enrolled students in their courses. List of ED/EDUC electives will be shared with students via email and posted on EDU page: /edu/students/undergraduate-programs/bed-program-calendars/
TMU BA/BEd and Waaban Indigenous BEd students FW 2026-27
Information 聽will be shared early July with the TMU BA/BEd and Waaban Indigenous BEd students regarding for FW 2026-27 course enrolment. Will include courses planned, course schedule and enrolment date. Jane Larsson, Education Academic Advisor will look after the course enrolment. BA Educational Studies students enrolling in ED/EDST 3999 6.00
Information Session for students moving into Level 3
The Office of Students Services provided a virtual information session for BA students moving into level 3 (48.00 credits complete by end of summer to enrol in ED/EDST 3999 6.00) ) on Friday, June 5th. The session was recorded.
We discussed courses planned for FW 2026-27, program requirements, how to review your Degree Progress Report, and for those students who will have completed a minimum of 54.00 credits by August 2026, enroll in EDST 3999 - Experience, Inquire and Contribute (EIC). The EIC offers learning placements within the community or in related organizations as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies program. The placements are workplace-based learning to put theory to practice in the field of learning and education.
Required: Students enrolling in ED/EDST 3999 6.00 must have a VSS for the academic year 2026-2027. Please apply early (now), so that your new VSS has an issue date of July 1, 2026.

BA students who are moving into level 4 for FW 2026-27 (will have completed ED/ EDST 3999 6.0) can plan one of the two IEC options.

As well, BA students should look at courses outside of BA EDST - If you are trying to add a course through another program/faculty you may need to email the department for permission. Visits Look at Course Contact Directory - add the course interest in i.e. AP/HUMA and select the faculty that offers it. Email the department and share your full name, student number, you鈥檙e in the BA EDST program - Faculty of Education and the course number and section requesting permission to add.

The Faculty of Education Undergraduate Certificate in Educational Development
Students must be registered in the Honours BA (Educational Studies) program and complete the requirements concurrently. This degree requires the completion of 120 credits. Students must complete the BA major 42.00 credits in Educational Studies and must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least C+ (5.0).
Access/enrolment for EDST 4998 6.00, students need to have completed ED/EDST 3510/3500 or completed EDST 3500 and enrolled in EDST 3510 for FW 2026. Please email osp@edu.yorku.ca and the advising team will check your record to add permission for ED/EDST 4998 6.00.
How to plan for the certificate:
ED/EDST3500 Introduction to Educational Development second or third year of study.
ED/EDST3510 Teaching and supporting teaching online. You may take this at the same time as EDST3500, or after completing EDST 3500, second or third year of study.
EDST4998 Advanced Studies and Practices in Educational Development. After completing the other two courses. In your 3rd or 4th year of study.

REMINDER Grade requirements for the Bachelor of Education
Students will be ineligible to continue in the Bachelor of Education teaching certification degree / program if they receive less than a grade of C+ in any course taken for education credit. In the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, students complete both a community-based practicum placement and three school-based practicum placements. School placements are supervised by an Ontario Certified Teacher. Students are required to complete all practicum days successfully to complete their degree programs. Further details on the practicum experience can be found online.

Bachelor of Education students October convocation
BEd students graduating in October 2026 will be applying to the Ontario College of Teachers to become a certified member. There are several steps students will need to take to ensure there are no delays nominating BEd graduates.
- Review the OCT application information at
- Apply for OCT membership/registration: Visit: select Members and then Create an Account. For the BEd Student Services Office to send your recommendation, we require the six-digit OCT registration number for each graduating teacher candidate.
- Submit the six-digit Ontario College Teachers (OCT) registration number ASAP to the Faculty of Education. The online form is available on the Faculty of Education website. Full nomination to the Ontario College of Teachers by the Faculty of Education can only be submitted with your OCT registration number.
- Send Transcripts to OCT~ Graduating BEd teacher candidates will need to order all post-secondary transcripts and be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers. The Faculty of Education cannot order students transcripts; it's the responsibility of students. Please order your transcript while completing your OCT application, using the OUAC Transcript Request available at . When ordering transcripts, please indicate that you wish for your 91亚色 transcript to be sent after degree completion.
- Recommendation to OCT- The Faculty of Education will only send your recommendation to OCT following degree(s) completion. Transcripts ordered by the student and the recommendation sent by the Faculty of Education are required for certification.
The Faculty of Education will use the information (OCT Registry number) submitted by those students who requested Transitional OCT Certification for final OCT recommendation/submission. Students will need to re-order their 91亚色 U. transcript to show conferral of the BEd degree to OCT.
This will also apply to the Toronto Metropolitan University ECS BA/PJ BEd students completing the teaching program requirements at the end of July and requesting the Transitional Certificate.
