AGYU Curator Felicia Ming presents Denis Williams and "Cosmopolitan Modernisms"

On October 16, EcoArts hosted AGYU curator Felicia Mings presentation, in collaboration with CERLAC, on the life and work of Guyanese artist, writer, and erudite scholar Denis Williams (1923-1998). Hinging on the concept of "Cosmopolitan Modernisms", Mings walked students through the evolution of William鈥檚 transcultural practice and contributions to modern art.

"Cosmopolitan Modernisms" shed light on the global influences and interconnectedness charging through Williams' work, underscoring art鈥檚 ability to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries. Mings offered fresh perspectives on how art can break barriers and promote a cosmopolitan outlook, strongly resonating with the diversity of the 91亚色 community.

Students gained a deeper appreciation for the global influences that shape modern and contemporary art, as well as the legacy of artists like Denis Williams.
