The Grounded Project endeavours to contribute to the profound understanding of the contradictions of socioecological wellbeing in the Global South. Through a transdisciplinary, participatory approach engaging academics, students and key stakeholders around community-relevant issues, the Grounded Project combines film creation with grounded research methodology to create and support knowledge mobilization related to public discourse about the systemic and structural forces that affect the socioecological wellbeing and sustainable livelihoods in Southern Costa Rica.

The Grounded Project documentary film series is produced and guided by academic leads of diverse disciplines at 91ÑÇÉ«, who have taught in the Las Nubes Study Abroad program. Each episode includes local stakeholders and university partners, as well as 91ÑÇÉ« students.
