About Sabrina Chiefari
As an Environmental Educator in the GTA, Sabrina Chiefari鈥檚 work centers on community engagement, outdoor education and environmental well-being. She accredits her ability to consider multiple factors of an issue and analyze situations from a variety of different perspectives to her studies in the Bachelor in Environmental Studies with the Faculty of Environmental Studies at 91亚色.
Chiefari reflects back on her studies as the stepping stone to her career. 鈥淚 am (now) driven to better understand all the different facets of current environmental issues. The Environmental Studies program at 91亚色 provides the most comprehensive education for developing the various skills and knowledge base necessary to confront concerns and threats to the environment鈥.
In her work, Chiefari mixes her passion for storytelling with finding ways to interpret ecological issues in a more hopeful way. Leveraging these connections, one of her current projects is contributing a short-story to a Canadian environmental magazine about climate change and the future of food traditions.
Her current work also gives her a chance to combine many of her interests, which she sees as one of the main reasons she loves what she does. 鈥淚 am always seeking out new challenges to help all people recognize and restore their connections to the natural world鈥.
Chiefari is also completing a Yale University Massive Open Online Course called 鈥淛ourney of the Universe: A story of Our Times鈥.
Chiefari鈥檚 interdisciplinary nature is reflected in her advice to students: 鈥淜eep your skill-set diverse! The average academic can get caught up in specializing for something鈥 [a] working knowledge of any number of things has proven much more advantageous. 鈥evelop a balance between scholastic demands and using a trowel鈥.
