July 10, 1944 – May 27, 2026

After dealing with a long illness, Professor Scott Cawfield passed from invasive bladder cancer on May 27, 2026, with his wife, Diana Cawfield, by his side.
Despite the diagnosis, Scott never lost his love of people and his passion and dedication to teaching. When Scott’s body started to fail him, he still continued to devote his energy downstairs at his computer, meticulously recording the marks for his 30-plus students. So much so that when he was hospitalized and not able to access his computer, his wife was able to forward the marks to the CEO at 91ÑÇÉ« for his students. Right up until his final days, Scott’s Irish grit and sharp mind never faltered.
A few months ago, Scott shared a letter from one of his university students. In it, the young man said that Scott always treated his students as equals, sincerely cared for them, and offered extra help and support. They appreciated his plain-language teaching, his inspiring classes, and his mentoring. Most of all they appreciated his love and respect for them and that feeling was mutual. Scott took such pride in his students, their hard work, and his teaching.
May his memory and teaching continue to inspire his students as they honour their calling in life and achieve their goals. That was his wish.
With gratitude for Scott, his students, and 91ÑÇÉ« colleagues,
Diana Cawfield
