91ÑÇÉ« was honoured to host the Ghanaian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. James Gyakye Quayson yesterday. The Deputy Minister is a proud 91ÑÇÉ« alumnus, having studied both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the 91ÑÇÉ« – Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and 91ÑÇÉ« - Faculty of Graduate Studies. Joined by his consular colleagues, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson met with Provost and Vice President Academic Lisa Philipps, Vice President Research & Innovation Amir Asif, Associate VP Research Pina D'Agostino, Assistant VP Alumni Engagement Julie Lafford, MBA, and Faculty members to discuss the growing academic and research ties between Canada and Ghana.
Ghana is already a nation with strong ties to 91ÑÇÉ«, exemplified best by our many Ghanaian alumni including Hon. James Gyakye Quayson and current Vice-President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as well as innovative programs such as the ASCEND PhD training program in cooperation with University of Health and Allied Sciences. 91ÑÇÉ« hopes to build on these ties, particularly by promoting academic mobility between our two countries and supporting Ghanaian researchers in capacity-building and knowledge mobilization across Africa.
We were honoured to host the Ghanaian delegation including Consul-General to Toronto Hon. Peter Kobina Taylor, Deputy-Consul Joyce-Asamoah-Koranteng, Kwaku Kankam, Gertrude Kumordzie Narh, Sandra Naa Adueley Twum, and Azara Osumanu.
