Tax Support Offerings for International Students

International students can access two dedicated services designed to help you understand Canadian tax requirements and successfully file your taxes for the 2026 tax filing year. This offering is provided in partnership with the North 91ÑÇÉ« Community House.Ìý

 

Free Virtual Tax Filing Appointment

If you require one-on-one support to file your taxes, free virtualÌý(phone call)Ìýappointments are available for eligible international students.Ìý

Appointment Format:Ìý

  • 40 minutes for individualsÌý
  • 1 hour for couplesÌý

Eligibility Criteria:ÌýInternational students who worked in 2025 may qualify if their annual income is:Ìý

  • Below $35,000 for individualsÌý
  • Below $45,000 for couplesÌý

Clinic Dates:ÌýBY APPOINTMENT ONLYÌý

  • March 16thÌýÌý
  • 10:00 AM to 4:00 PMÌý

Required DocumentsÌýfor Tax Filing Appointment:ÌýPlease ensure the following documents are prepared before your scheduled appointmentÌý

GeneralÌý
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment (Not applicable if this is your first time filing taxes)Ìý
  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and, if applicable, your spouse’s SINÌý
  • Individual Tax Number (ITN) - (ONLY necessary if you do not have a Social Insurance Number)Ìý
  • Your Passport and Study PermitÌý
Information Slips (please bring all documents that apply to you):Ìý
  • T2202 form - Tuition fees and education amount. To retrieve your tax formÌý
  • T4 Form– Salary and wages (issued by your employer)Ìý
  • T4A Form– Scholarships, bursaries (issued by University)Ìý
Rent costs - Calculate your rent for the period of January 1,Ìý2025Ìýto December 31, 2025 - The receipt or signed letter fromÌýlandlord/subletter are needed). It must include:Ìý
  • The address you lived at (including postal code) in 2025;Ìý
  • Person full name living in the above address;Ìý
  • How many month(s)/year(s) you lived in that address(s) in 2025;Ìý
  • How much rent you have paid in 2025;Ìý
  • The name of theÌýlandlord/subletter that you rented it from Ìý
  • Please note: You should get a letter/receipt from yourÌýlandlord/ subletter confirming the above, in case CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) audits you in the futureÌý
Medical expensesÌý For prescriptions, a printout can be obtained from your pharmacyÌý
T3 or T5 formsÌý If you earned interest on investments and deposits (issued by banking and financial institutions)Ìý
Donation receiptsÌý If you made any Canadian registered charitable donations during the period of January 1 - December 31, 2025Ìý
