Adrienne and Donna Pocock Memorial Award

Purpose

The Adrienne and Donna Pocock Memorial Award was established in honour of the late Adrienne Pocock, a conscientious environmentalist devoted to grassroots care and concern for her world. The award will be given annually to graduate students in the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change to support resources and/or travel related to their fieldwork. The award of winter of 2006 was granted to a student whose area of focus encompassed the Canadian environment and the award continues to be intended for students whose work incorporates consideration of Canada, children, animals or Aboriginal issues in relationship to the environment.

Criteria

  • Graduate student in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change.
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident and/or protected person.
  • Ontario resident.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Work effectively addresses the key issues outlined in the award’s stated purpose.

How to Apply

  • Complete and submit a Student Profile in the FAAS App and fill out a Needs Assessment for the current study period.
  • Submit a 1–2-page description of your proposed fieldwork activity by including a detailed budget, timeline and explanation of how the funds will be used.
  • One letter of recommendation from your research supervisor.

NOTE: Applicants will be judged based on the quality of their fieldwork proposal, including objective(s), deliverables, scope, and potential contribution towards environmental research and/or issues more broadly.
