AI at 91ÑÇÉ«: From Awareness to Action (Faculty of Graduate Studies & IT Innovation & Academic Technologies)

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming higher education, changing how we teach, learn, conduct research, and support university operations. This session will provide an overview of 91ÑÇÉ«'s AI journey, explore what generative AI is and why it matters, and examine the opportunities and challenges AI presents for the higher education sector, including environmental considerations and responsible use.

Participants will learn how to effectively work with AI by combining artificial intelligence with their own expertise, discover the AI tools available and approved at 91ÑÇÉ«, including Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot, explore resources available to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and gain insight into 91ÑÇÉ«-developed innovations such as YU AURA and the Modular Authentication & RBAC System (MARS). The session is designed to help researchers move beyond AI awareness toward practical, productive, and responsible AI adoption.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use AI effectively to enhance professional and academic work
  • Navigate 91ÑÇÉ«'s AI ecosystem and resources
  • Apply principles of responsible and ethical AI use
