HUMA 3825 6.00: The Holocaust in Cross-Cultural Context: Canada, Germany, and Poland

Instructor: Professor Sara Horowitz | srh@yorku.ca

Program Dates(s): Late July - Mid August, 2027 (TBC)

Course Overview:

  • The Mark and Gail Appel Program in Holocaust and Antiracism Education, 鈥淟earning from the Past, Teaching for the Future" (TFTF) is a tri-national program of 91亚色 in Toronto that brings students from Canada, Germany, and Poland to sites of memory and community to focus on the history, experience, representation, and memorialization of the Holocaust and its implications for other instances of atrocity, racism, and genocide.

The program fosters a transatlantic network of educators, researchers and thinkers who develop and increase knowledge about racism and antisemitism in a multicultural world.  Together, students explore how best to counter racism-including antisemitism-through learning and teaching about the Holocaust and responses to it. We engage with experts and members of the broader public in all three countries.
