Search Kings

When Beatrice Yu moved to Canada, she brought with her a wealth of experience as an Assistant Manager in Product Marketing and Promotions. However, like many internationally educated professionals, she faced challenges in advancing her career to a role that matched her expertise.

鈥淒espite consistently delivering exceptional performance and receiving glowing reviews, my career advancement was slow,鈥 Beatrice recalls.

Bridging the Gap

To address this, Beatrice joined 91亚色鈥檚 Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) Certificate Program. Through the program, she gained critical insights into Canadian workplace dynamics and industry standards.

鈥淭he program helped me learn the ins and outs of the Canadian workplace and acquire the credentials that were the final piece I needed to secure my promotion at a faster rate,鈥 she explains.

Connecting and Building Skills

Networking played a vital role in Beatrice鈥檚 journey. The program facilitated opportunities for her to connect with peers and industry professionals, helping her build valuable relationships.

鈥淭he Certificate Program provided a unique opportunity to build valuable professional and personal connections. It helped bridge the gap that often exists for immigrants, who may not have the same organic networking opportunities as those born and raised in Canada. I鈥檓 grateful for the strong relationships I鈥檝e forged with my cohort members, many of whom I still keep in touch with today,鈥 she shared.

Adapting to the Canadian Market

Beatrice also used the program to refresh her skills and tailor them to the Canadian labor market.

鈥淏y focusing on Canadian industry standards, terminology, and professional practices, the program equipped me with the tools and confidence to succeed in my career advancement,鈥 she says.

A Career Boost

Armed with new credentials, enhanced skills, and a robust professional network, Beatrice secured a promotion and now excels in her role as Lead Developer at Search Kings, which she began in March 2023.
