TORONTO, January 9, 2017 鈭� 91亚色 will celebrate 鈥溾�� throughout 2017 with unique educational events that showcase everything from debates to dancing. A total of 40 projects have been selected to receive $400,000 in funding from the University.

Rhonda Lenton, Vice-President Academic and Provost, announced the projects recently: 鈥淲e had an overwhelmingly positive response to our call for proposals. We sought innovative projects that would explore Canada鈥檚 past and look to its future,鈥� she said. 鈥淭he selected projects will showcase 91亚色 and Canada 150 themes, while supporting the student learning experience.鈥�
Highlights of include:

• Federal and provincial debates on Confederation (1865-1949) and Indigenous Numbered Treaties (1871-1921)
• French-language 鈥淥lympics鈥�
• A campaign to boost Canadian music Wikipedia content pairs librarians with musicians
• 鈥淪ocial justice for Indigenous youth鈥� symposium
• A concert to celebrate Filipinos as Canada鈥檚 fastest growing immigrant community
• Exploring trans-disciplinary scientific perspectives on the north
• 鈥淜now Your Worth鈥� a conference for students from the Jane/Finch Community
• A symposium to explore literary and media representations of the Chinese diaspora in Canada鈥檚 150 years as a nation
