Successful Conclusion of the 1st Korean Diaspora Studies Conference in Halifax, N.S
The Korean Diaspora Studies conference was held on November 7, 2025. The conference was hosted by the Korean Office for Research and Education and supported by the local organizing committee, Min-Jung Kwak, at St. Mary's University.
We were honored to welcome two wonderful keynote speakers and featured insightful research presentations from:
- Prof. Chang Zoo Song (University of Auckland, New Zealand)
- Prof. Jerome De Witt (University of Vienna, Austria)
- Four graduate students spanning diverse research fields.
The conference also included productive academic networking meetings with KORE members and the consortium, solidifying plans for future collaborations and research initiatives.
To conclude the event, we invited the local community for a public evening with a film screening of Past Lives. The evening began with a fascinating Film Talk session led by Dr. An, Ji-Yoon (University of British Colombia) created a wonderful blend of academic discussion and public engagement.
