Rose Ukeci is a doctoral student in sociology and anthropology at the University of Mons in Belgium. Her research focuses on the forms of control, appropriation, and contestation surrounding natural resources, as well as the knowledge and practices that govern their use in the DRC. With a background in geography, she has expertise in cartography and geographic information systems (GIS). Her current research focuses in particular on Ituri and Haut-Uele, where she analyzes extractive dynamics, the ontologies of gold, struggles and discourses in the mines, as well as interethnic conflicts and/or conflicts with Uganda.
