In their co-authored article, Perceptions and Practices of Investment: China's Hydropower Investments in Mainland Southeast Asia, and examine how xenophobia impacts perceptions of Chinese investments in Vietnam and Myanmar.聽 The authors urge scholars to analyze Chinese investments in the area in relation to local governance and to move away from a framework that exceptionalizes China鈥檚 role in the region.聽 The article was published in the special issue of Canadian Journal of Development Studies聽(April 2017), Climate Change Policies, Resource Grabbing and Conflict: Perspectives from Southeast Asia.
