Graduate fellows of the Urban Climate Resilience in Southeast Asia Partnership join YCAR

YCAR welcomes Ly Quoc Dang听(Can听Tho听University, Vietnam) and听Piti听Srivongchai听(Khon Kaen University, Thailand) who joined the Centre听as Graduate Fellows of the Urban Climate Resilience in Southeast听Asia听Partnership听(UCRSEA).

Ly Quoc Dang is from Soc Trang Province, Vietnam. He is of the Khmer Ethnicity Group and his community is right next to the sea where it is most vulnerable to climate change. Ly is a researcher at Can Tho University, Vietnam and he focuses on public policies, water management, eco-tourism, gender and urbanisation. He has published two papers on water management and eco-tourism. Ly听has听many years of experience in development in the Mekong Delta and Mekong Region Countries. His听research uses a feminist ecology perspective to analyze women鈥檚 perceptions of urban floods and vulnerability in Can听Tho听City of Vietnam鈥檚 Mekong Delta.

Piti Srivongchai is a PhD Candidate in Development Sciences at the听Khon Kaen University, Thailand. Srivongchai鈥檚听work investigates the factors that influence individual carbon emission behavior to propose guidelines to promote low carbon city emissions in Khon Kaen. He looks at how lifestyle changes听can deliver immediate results in lowering carbon emissions.听Srivongchai has over听15 years of work and research experience in the energy sector.

Both UCRSEA graduate fellows听will be working with Douglas Young (Social Science).
