In this issue, we congratulate Yasir Hameed, the 2020 recipient of the . Yasir is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Environmental Studies at 91ÑÇÉ« and a YCAR Graduate Associate. He has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi) and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning (UC Berkeley). His work explores questions of public space, housing, safety, marginalization, resistance and social justice in cities. His dissertation research will consider how public safety, and thus the right to the city and its public spaces, is defined for marginalized people in the Indian capital of New Delhi.
