Kutay Kutlu is a doctoral candidate in Socio-Legal Studies at 91亚色. He holds an SSHRC doctoral fellowship. Prior to joining 91亚色, he received a PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University, where he focused on Turkey鈥檚 renewable energy policies from the perspective of scholarship on the concept of green/environmental state. He also holds an LLM degree from King鈥檚 College London and an LLB degree from Koc University. He has worked as a Research Assistant at Istanbul Aydin University鈥檚 Department of Political Science and International Relations. Since 2021, he has been contributing to the Oxford University Press鈥 Yearbook of International Environmental Law by as a country reporter for Turkey by authoring reports annually about the developments in environmental law and policy in the said country. He is the author of a book chapter titled 鈥淭he Need to Look Beyond the Right to Property: An Assessment of the Constitutional Court of Turkey鈥檚 Judgments on Urgent Expropriations for Hydropower Plants鈥 in Authoritarian Neoliberalism and Resistance in Turkey. His current doctoral research pertains to the land use changes and environmental justice conflicts due to renewable energy projects in Western Turkey, with a focus on the diverse uses of law and litigation by different parties.
