Congratulations to Faculty of Science researchers Deborah Harris, Ozzy Mermut and Amro Zayed, who have received a total of nearly $500K from the Ontario Research Fund in support of their innovative research projects related to neutrinos, biophotonics, and honey bees, respectively. They were among 18 faculty members at 91亚色 to receive research funds in a from the Ontario government.
鈥91亚色 makes innovation its tradition and we are grateful to the provincial government鈥檚 support of the ingenuity of our pioneering researchers,鈥 said Amir Asif, vice-president research and innovation. 鈥淭heir projects hold the promise to stimulate growth, ignite creativity and fuel invention across a variety of industries in Ontario.鈥
The projects in the Faculty of Science funded by Ontario Research Fund 鈥 Research Infrastructure include:
- $125,000 for 鈥淣ext generation of neutrino detector for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment,鈥 led by Professor Harris, Department of Physics & Astronomy.
- $160,000 for 鈥淏iophotonics Diagnosis, Treatment and Dosimetry in Age-Related Disorders and Human Diseases,鈥 led by Professor Mermut, Department of Physics & Astronomy.
- $212,990 for 鈥淩esearch apiary to study honey bee behaviour, genetics and health,鈥 led by Professor Zayed, Department of Biology.
