Student Testimonials from our Events

Incoming Students

My best experience at 91亚色 is discovering a new aspect of university, especially life on campus. Indeed, it is very huge, and you can eat, do groceries, go to the dentist in the campus, and it is very useful. I really enjoy the courses I took, even if I didn’t like them when I study them in France, I have learnt a new way of study, I use to not listen in class, but in 91亚色, I’ve learnt to, and it will help me in the future. I really like Faculty of Science, the teachers I had were very good, I really like the way of learning, it changes from France, indeed, we are “forced” to study our lessons for midterms or assignments, so it helps us assimilate better, which is not the same in my home institution. I feel like I’ve more understand the subject here than in France.

— Sophey Luy, Faculté de Pharmacie de Marseille

Holiday gift event

My best experience at 91亚色U would be the coffee breaks arranged by 91亚色 International as that is when I got the chance to meet people from all parts of the world.

The experience of learning about another culture was truly the most meaningful thing I brought with me from my study at 91亚色U. The chance for me to make so many friends from different parts of the world also helps me broaden my scope of the world. In turn, it also helps me appreciate the little things I overlook in my home country.

91亚色 truly has some of the most diverse crowd of students, beyond race and cultures. It is a place where one can truly be exposed to different communities if one so seeks them out.

I also had the chance to study various Chemistry course in the Faculty of Science and the course content are highly relevant and engaging, especially CHEM 4080.

— Jie An Chong, Nanyang Technology University

Holiday gift event

I’ve met people from all across the world in my exchange and get to learn so much new culture and food. The most memorable one was trying out Ethiopian food for the first time, it was really amazing, and to have my Ethiopian friend explaining what everything is, how it’s done back at his home just adds to the experience like no other.

Outgoing Students

I deeply appreciate the effort and support from 91亚色 that has enabled me to benefit from this invaluable internship opportunity. Initially, I learned about this internship through emails sent by professors to students. Subsequently, I further explored the application process with 91亚色 Science International, ultimately deciding to apply for the internship with the recommendation and support of Professor Cindy. Throughout the application process, my advisor Ivy not only tracked the progress of the project with Hong Kong Polytechnic University promptly but also provided timely assistance and clarification during the submission of materials.

I sincerely thank the professors and staff at 91亚色 for their guidance and support, as it is through their efforts that I have been able to secure this internship opportunity. This internship has not only equipped me with practical skills but has also broadened my horizons, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within my field of study.

CPR Training Event Testimonials

I recently attended a CPR training session that left a profound impact on me both professionally and personally. The experience was nothing short of enlightening, providing crucial skills that I now feel equipped to apply in real-life situations.

The CPR training session was exceptionally well-organized and engaging. The instructors were knowledgeable and passionate, making complex medical techniques accessible and understandable. It was a supportive environment where everyone felt encouraged to participate and ask questions.

As someone who works with children in a summer day camp setting, the relevance of CPR training cannot be overstated. Learning how to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies, from choking incidents to cardiac arrests, is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children under my care. The session underscored the critical importance of preparedness and quick action in potentially life-threatening situations.

The hands-on practical components of the training were invaluable. We practiced chest compressions, rescue breaths, and learned how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) effectively. These simulations gave me the confidence to apply what I've learned should the need ever arise.

One of the most impactful parts of the training was hearing personal stories from the instructors and fellow participants. These stories highlighted real-life situations where CPR made a life-saving difference. It reinforced the idea that with the right training and readiness, ordinary individuals can make an extraordinary impact in emergency situations.

In conclusion, this CPR training session was not just about acquiring a certification; it was about gaining a vital set of skills that I hope never to use but am immensely grateful to possess. I highly recommend this training to anyone who values the safety and well-being of those around them. It's an investment in knowledge that truly has the potential to save lives.

Students from the CPR training event

I recently attended the CPR & First Aid training session organized by Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science (GLYS) and I am pleased to share my positive experience. The training was fun, informative, and surprisingly relaxing, making it easy to learn.

The training session was exceptionally organized, starting with an informative overview of CPR and First Aid principles, followed by detailed demonstrations. The instructors were knowledgeable and approachable, ensuring that all participants understood each concept thoroughly before moving on to the next. The session's relaxed atmosphere made it enjoyable and engaging.

The training has significantly increased my confidence in handling real-life emergencies. Knowing that I now possess the skills to potentially save a life is incredibly empowering. The scenarios and examples provided during the session were relevant and closely aligned with situations we might encounter both in the workplace and in everyday life.

The hands-on exercises were particularly valuable. Practicing CPR on mannequins and performing simulated first aid on fellow trainees helped solidify the techniques taught. The real-life examples shared by the instructor, including his first CPR experience, made the training more relatable and impactful.

Before this training, I had minimal knowledge of first aid procedures. However, now I feel prepared to act swiftly and efficiently in emergencies. One poignant moment was learning how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) correctly, a skill I never thought I’d acquire but now realize could be critical in saving someone's life.

I highly recommend this training to all 91亚色 Lions! It not only equips us with essential life-saving skills but also fosters a sense of readiness and confidence. Thank you to the team at GLYS for organizing such an impactful session.

Students from the CPR training event

As a student that aspires to go to medical school, I was very excited to undertake this First Aid training. The instructor made the session very easy-going and flexible, which encouraged me to be comfortable with asking questions regarding First Aid. Learning the theoretical content along with practicing various situations allowed me to retain the First Aid principles very well. Moreover, this made the training very enjoyable. A lot of focus was given to common situations, and I was able to gain an understanding of how lifeguards, for example, generally perform First Aid at a beach.

Having completed first aid training, I now feel more equipped to potentially help prolong the lives of others around me. Before attending the training, I doubted that I’d be able to act appropriately in an emergency as I’d be uncertain about many things. With the knowledge that I’ve gained from the training, I can act accordingly with confidence. For example, I now know how to help someone who’s choking on some substance, gotten some degree of burns, or even unconscious from a heat stroke.

While I have never come across a situation where I needed to perform First Aid, I am definitely more prepared in such a case. Additionally, I am more informed about using AED devices, differentiating between similar symptoms (such as a diabetic patient and heat stroke patient), and approaching someone in need. Considering that there have been so many cases where patients couldn’t be saved in time due to lack of immediate care, I realized that everyone should have First Aid training since it could significantly help save so many lives. Indirectly, this would make the world a better place as well.

As one of the past Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science at the 91亚色, this opportunity has given me an exceptional experience that strengthens highly-sought out skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication and collaboration. All the skills that I have learned has helped me to land my first professional job even before my graduation. This experience not only helps others to showcase their leadership skills but to also learn the importance in always finding new ways to learn, train and develop new ideas that effectively promote the 91亚色 Science degree programs globally. As someone who came to Canada as an immigrant, this opportunity has opened so many doors for my future in Canada and I am confident that it will continue to do so in the future.

Jasmine (Chaemin) Kwon – Biomedical Science

Being part of the Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science (GLYS) program was a transformative experience that significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. Through the program, I cultivated vital competencies in leadership, teamwork, and effective communication while collaborating with accomplished individuals from various fields.

What made GLYS particularly impactful was the opportunity to take the lead on projects aimed at promoting 91亚色 Science on a global scale. This experience taught me how to manage initiatives effectively, navigate challenges, think creatively, and achieve meaningful results. I also gained valuable experience in public speaking and event planning, which have played a crucial role in my development.

The lessons I learned through GLYS have laid a strong foundation for my future success, and I am confident that they will continue to benefit me throughout my career.

Chenyang Yue – Biology Alumni

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to be as a student leader with the Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science (GLYS). Collaborating closely with the OCIP team and fellow GLYS members was both a privilege and a transformative experience. Being part of the GLYS team opened doors to valuable perspectives and collaborations that extended well beyond academics.

This experience not only enhanced my leadership, time management, and communication skills but also provided exceptional opportunities to network with esteemed members of society and foster international relationships. The skills I developed through my partnership with GLYS have been instrumental in my ability to lead interprofessional student networks effectively. Ultimately, as a 91亚色 alumnus, my role with Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science remains one of the defining experiences of my academic journey.

Arghavan Sammak – Biomedical Science Alumni

I am very grateful to have been a member of the Global Leaders of 91亚色 Science. GLYS has provided me with a platform for interaction with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, allowing me to gain insights into various cultures through workshops and volunteering opportunities. For instance, at the 91亚色 2023 Congress I got the chance to be a part of a historic congress meeting with scientists, historians, and professors who flew from across the globe to share their ideas with each other. Events like these have shown me why 91亚色 is recognized as one of the most culturally diverse universities globally, and have simultaneously helped me develop my leadership, responsibility, and cultural awareness. To this day, I continue to apply all that I have learned from this experience in all of my commitments at 91亚色 and beyond!

Gregory Churkin - Biomedical Sciences

GLYS in my experience was a gateway for opportunities, assisting in volunteering during various occasions helps in building connections, moreover you get to know 91亚色 Science better which is so pivotal for one’s career and academic pursuits. GLYS was also the reason I got CPR/AED certified, one of the many possibilities for a student to expand their profile. Overall, I would highly encourage students to join GLYS, and participate as much you can.
