More than 4,000 91ÑÇÉ« applicants and their parents received a first-class welcome to the Keele campus at the Office of Admissions & Recruitment’s annual March Break Open House on March 8.
The day got off to a rousing start in the Tait McKenzie complex with performances by the 91ÑÇÉ« cheerleaders and dance team. Following an official welcome by President and Vice-Chancellor Lorna R. Marsden, guests got the inside scoop about life at 91ÑÇÉ« from a panel of current students. Music was provided by our community radio station CHRY 105.5 FM, which also simultaneously broadcast the event to their listening audience.
The energy level remained high throughout the day with presentations by 91ÑÇÉ« professors about our unique academic programs. Walking and bus tours of the campus gave students the opportunity to visit to the Scott Library, residences, labs and studios.
Headquarters for the day was the Vari Hall rotunda where an information fair gave guests the chance to speak with representatives from 91ÑÇɫ’s student services, undergraduate programs and admissions. The last order of business was a draw for terrific prizes generously donated by the 91ÑÇÉ« Bookstore and Data Integrity.
Event coordinator Shelby Verboven said, "High-school students have some important decisions to make between now and June. Our open house was designed to give them a real feel for the 91ÑÇÉ« experience. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received, we think 91ÑÇÉ« will be at the top of everyone’s list."
