91ÑÇÉ« researchers have received a total of $2.9 million for 34 projects from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The projects range from investor behaviour in the stock market and adolescent romance to issues of police accountability and Holocaust memories.
Some $73 million in funding for social sciences and humanities research will be given toÌýuniversities across Canada, Industry Minister Allan Rock announced.
Stan Shapson, 91ÑÇÉ« vice-president, research and innovation, welcomed the funding and noted the importance to the public of human sciences research. "We are committed to ensuring the benefits of our research support better public policy and community activity at the grassroots level."
Two 91ÑÇÉ« projects received a total of $368,208 under the SSHRC Initiative on the New Economy --Ìýone on stagflation, involving political science Professor JonathanÌýNitzan,Ìýand another on immigrants in the global economy, involving sociologyÌýProfessor Luin Goldring, both of theÌýFaculty of Arts.
