Former 91ÑÇÉ« hockey player Jim Hulton (left)Â has been named an assistant coach of Canada's National Junior Team, which will take part in the 2004 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Finland. The announcement was made by Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League on May 29.
Hulton (Hon. BA '93) was a left winger with 91ÑÇÉ«'s men's hockey team from 1989 to 1993 and was team captain in his final season. In four seasons with 91ÑÇÉ« he tallied 13 goals and 30 assists.
He led Canada’s National Under-18 Team to a gold medal at the Eight Nations Cup in August of 2002. The native of Wolfe Island, Ontario, coached the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Belleville Bulls for three years prior to joining the Kingston Frontenacs.
Canada has won the World Junior Championship 10 times, including seven of the last 14 years. Team Canada won an unprecedented five straight World Junior titles from 1993-1997. Canada also took home silver medals in 2003Â from Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2002Â from the Czech Republic and in 1999Â from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
