Sport 91ÑÇÉ« held its 36th Annual Awards Banquet on April 1 at the Montecassino Place Banquet Hall in Toronto. Members of the 91ÑÇÉ« community joined coaches, therapists and more than 500 athletes from 91ÑÇɫ’s 29 teams in celebrating the 2003-04 season at 91ÑÇÉ«. Awards were presented to 91ÑÇɫ’s top athletes, teams, and support staff. This year's male and female athletes of the year were Todd Zubyck (track & field) and Sherry Hartnett (women's field hockey).
The Male Athlete of the Year is awarded to a male athlete who has exhibited outstanding athletic skill, character and fair play in his sport and as a result contributed to the success of his team.
Todd Zubyck had an outstanding season with the Lions track and field team. The third-year student captured the gold medal in the pole vault at both the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships. A CIS All-Canadian and an OUA All-Star, he was undefeated against CIS competition this season. Ranked number one in the CIS in the pole vault, Zubyck is just the second vaulter in 91ÑÇÉ« history to vault over 5.30 metres.

The Female Athlete of the Year is awarded to a female athlete who has exhibited outstanding athletic skill, character and fair play in her sport and as a result contributed to the success of her team.

A fifth-year kinesiology & health science student, Sherry Hartnett was a first team OUA All-Star and a second team CIS All-Canadian. She was also awarded the CIS Gail Wilson Award, which is presented to the greatest all-around athlete in CIS women’s field hockey.
