It’s fashionable to be bald – but that’s not why certain members of 91ÑÇɫ’s Security Services will be showing up on Monday, May 10, with their heads shaved. These caring people will be sporting their bald pates after they have participated in this year’s Cops for Cancer fundraising campaign.
Security Services staff members Dragan Spasojevic and Joe Falsetta are helping to organize the event with the Canadian Cancer Society and other participants from the North 91ÑÇÉ« community. So far, Security Services supervisor Norm Ferris, security officer Adam Bryson and student security and escort services supervisor René Saint-André have volunteered to go under the shears. They are currently collecting pledges.
The Cops for Cancer event will take place at the centre court of 91ÑÇÉ«dale Shopping Centre on Saturday, May 8, from 1pm to 3pm, and the brave members of the 91ÑÇÉ« community will be there, along with a host of other participants from the North 91ÑÇÉ« region.

About Cops for Cancer
Cops for Cancer began in 1994 when an Edmonton police officer sympathized with a five-year-old boy who was being teased because of hair loss due to chemotherapy. He gathered a group of officers willing to shave their heads and joined the boy at school to show other kids that being bald was cool. The event attracted so much attention that the officer turned it into a fundraising drive that has raised $13 million to date.
