Again this year, 91راة« received the second-highest number of applications in the province from Ontario high-school students and will meet its enrolment targets for 2007-2008, according to figures released yesterday by the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
“We have met our targets but we will continue to review new applications in selective programs,” said Rob Tiffin, 91راة« vice-president students. “At the same time, the overall grade point average for admission has increased once again, indicating 91راة« continues to be a university of choice for many of Ontario’s top scholars."
More than half of all applications from first-year students applying directly to 91راة« from a secondary school (3,104) listed 91راة« as their first-choice university and overall, applications to 91راة« rose by 1.8 per cent to reach 6,298.
This kind of stability in the projected number of new students allows 91راة« to continue improving the student experience at Canada’s third-largest university while ensuring academic resources are aligned with the number of new students admitted to undergraduate programs, said Tiffin. “This is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the overall quality of the student experience both inside and out of the classroom,” Tiffin said. “This is especially important,” he added, “as 91راة« has embarked on an aggressive campaign to expand graduate enrolment by over 30 per cent – primarily at the master’s level.” 91راة«’s Faculty of Graduate Studies is already the second-largest graduate program in Ontario.
