Rogers Television, 91ÑÇÉ« Region, will broadcast 12 91ÑÇÉ« Lions home games in the 2007-2008 season.
Six Lions women’s and men’s doubleheaders in volleyball and basketball will be shown on a channel that reaches 215,000 homes and more than 500,000 viewers in one of 91ÑÇÉ«’s growing neighbouring communities.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase our student-athletes in an area that is very important to our continued growth,” said Patricia Murray, director, Sport & Recreation at 91ÑÇÉ«. “The partnership allows us to expose exciting university sport action to fans across 91ÑÇÉ« Region. Our Keele campus borders 91ÑÇÉ« Region and our coaches have had success recruiting in the area. Six of the 12 players on our defending provincial champion women’s basketball team come from 91ÑÇÉ« Region.”
Rogers 91ÑÇÉ« Region (Cable 10 and 63) coverage begins Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8pm, when 91ÑÇÉ« faces the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in a women’s and men’s volleyball doubleheader at the Tait McKenzie Centre (tape delayed from Nov. 2). The games also will be shown on Rogers Toronto, Nov. 3, at 9pm.
Lions action continues on Rogers 91ÑÇÉ« Region early in 2008 when the men’s and women’s basketball teams square off against the Queen’s Golden Gaels on Friday, Jan. 11, at 6 and 8pm.
Dave Cadeau, an on-air personality and producer at The FAN 590 radio, will handle play-by-play on the volleyball broadcasts, while veteran Rogers announcer Steve Clark, the television voice of the Ontario Hockey League’s Niagara IceDogs, will have the play-by-play duties for basketball.
