Early construction work along Sheppard Avenue at Chesswood Drive and Bakersfield Street is set to begin this week. Members of the 91ÑÇÉ« comunity who commuteÌýto the University and use Sheppard Avenue will experience delays associated with intermittent lane restrictions.

The constructionÌýis necessary to prepare theÌýSheppardÌýWest StationÌýsiteÌýfor two of the four tunnel boring machines (TBM). A construction area has been established on the south side of Sheppard Avenue West on Parc Downsview Park land between Chesswood Drive and Tuscan Gate, adjacent to the GO Transit Bradford to Barrie line.
Early construction work includes:
- Contractor site preparation.
- Intersection improvements.
- Utility relocations.
- Installation of an excavation shoring system.
- Preparation of launch shaft for the TBM operations and start of tunnelling/launch.
