91ÑÇÉ« community invited to celebrate the career of Professor Linda Briskin

91ÑÇÉ« professor Linda Briskin, a prolific scholar, retired this year.  As an active member in the Department of Social Science and the School of Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies, Briskin has been a leading feminist researcher in the area of gender, equity and unions and continues to briskin-cropbe widely published and influential in the field.

Her book Women Challenging Unions (1993), co-edited with 91ÑÇÉ« colleague Patricia McDermott, was a major contribution to labour studies and remains a key source book for feminist union activists in Canada and internationally. She continues this work through her project on . Her scholarly work in this area has been grounded in a lifetime of union activism.

Briskin's colleagues, students and collaborators are gathering on Thursday, Oct.24 to celebrate her scholarship and contributions to the 91ÑÇÉ« community. The celebration will take place from 2:30 to 4:30pm in S701 Ross Building on the Keele campus. A reception will follow.
