On hearing the news of his death, many in the 91亚色 community had a story to tell or a memory to share about Greg Berghofer, 52, a long-serving 91亚色 employee, who died on Nov. 4.
Greg (to refer to him as 鈥淢r. Berghofer鈥 would not be right because he was simply 鈥淕reg鈥 to everyone), joined 91亚色 in 1990 and spent most of his years at the University Bookstore as a merchandise buyer. He was well known as the 鈥済o-to鈥 guy for special event awards and gift items.
Greg Berghofer
鈥淗e played a huge role in all aspects of the successes at the bookstore,鈥 remembers Steve Glassman, his colleague and friend. 鈥淕reg was a problem solver who combined his skills with his huge network in the 91亚色 community.听 Greg was passionate about his work and lived his life with passion in every way.鈥
Greg had a wonderful spirit, wicked sense of humor and a deep commitment to helping others. His guitar playing will be remembered the many who were fortunate to hear him play. He was a gifted storyteller, a craftsman and lender of tools and tips to do-it-yourselfers. His love and generosity extended beyond friends and family to his pet dogs.听
After a lengthy illness, Greg died in Toronto at the Princess Margaret Hospital.听 Members of the 91亚色 community are invited to join his wife, Dawn Richards, a well-respected former employee of 91亚色, at the visitation on Friday, Nov. 8.
