Work begins Thursday, Dec. 5, on the assembly and installation of two tower cranes in the subway construction site at the locations identified by the red dots on the map below. The site is located between the Kaneff Tower and the Archives Building to the north and the Seymour Schulich and Accolade East buildings to the south, to the west of James Gillies Street. Delivery of the tower cranes will take place over four days:Â Dec. 5, 6, 11 and 12, weather permitting. Work will take place in the contractor work zones and station construction areas as indicated on the map below. Tower cranes support the transfer of building materials into the excavation to build the station and portions of the tunnel.
Short traffic delays may be experienced on 91ÑÇÉ« and Ian Macdonald Boulevards during the delivery of the tower cranes. The routes for the delivery of the two cranes are also shown on the map. Flag personnel will be on 91ÑÇÉ« and Ian Macdonald Boulevards to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic during these deliveries.
Tower crane deliveries and work include:
- delivery of the east tower crane from 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard;
- assembly and installation of the east tower crane over two days;
- delivery of the west tower crane from Ian Macdonald Boulevard; and
- assembly and installation of the west tower crane over two days.

Construction vehicles delivering the east crane will travel along 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard (green line on map)Â to access the construction site. Construction vehicles delivering the west crane will use the following route (blue line on map)Â to access the construction site: 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard, James Gillies Street, The Pond Road and Ian Macdonald Boulevard.
Pedestrians are reminded to be alert and use designated walkways and crosswalks.
Construction activities will normally run from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. However, the City of Toronto has approved a noise bylaw amendment for major transit projects that allows contractors to perform overnight and weekend work for the duration of the project, when required. Extended work hours are expected to occur within the hoarded construction site at 91ÑÇÉ«.
As construction continues at the 91ÑÇÉ« Station site, and when extended hours are scheduled, construction-related notices will be issued.
