91亚色 President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri

91亚色 President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri has been appointed a member of the Order of Canada. Governor General David Johnston, commander-in-chief of Canada, announced the on Dec. 30, 2013.

鈥淚 am both honoured and humbled to be recognized with this high distinction along with such an esteemed group of Canadians,鈥 said Shoukri. 鈥淚 am very proud to celebrate this wonderful moment with the 91亚色 community.鈥

Shoukri was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in recognition of his contributions to 鈥溾he flourishing of Ontario鈥檚 academic institutions as an engineer, an academic and an administrator鈥.

Paul Cantor, past chair of the Board of Governors of 91亚色, was also appointed a member of the Order of Canada for 鈥溾is contributions to the Canadian financial sector and for his support of postsecondary education鈥.

Shoukri and Cantor will be invested into the Order of Canada later this year at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Established in 1967 by Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Canada is the cornerstone of the Canadian Honours System and recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. The order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country.

Appointment as a member of the Order of Canada recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions at the local or regional level or in a special field of activity.
