Demeter Press launches four books with celebration of maternal writing

Several books published by Demeter Press will launch during a celebration of maternal scholarly/literary writing.

Demeter Press logoThe event will also include readings from the four books Thursday, April 3, from 7 to 10pm, at Bar Radio, 615 College St. west of Bathurst in Toronto. Admission is pay-what-you-can. A $20 donation will include a free copy of one of the titles. Submit your RSVP to organizers by March 31 as space is limited.

The books being launched are: Counting on Marilyn Waring: New Advances in Feminist Economics edited by Margunn Bjørnholt and Ailsa McKay; Borrowed Body: A Novel by Valerie Mason-John; Mothering in the Age of Neoliberalism edited by Melinda Vandenbeld Giles; and
Disabled Mothers: Stories and Scholarship By and About Mothers With Disabilities edited by Gloria Filax and Dena Taylor.

is an independent feminist press committed to publishing peer-reviewed scholarly work, fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction by and about mothers, mothering and family issues. It is the publishing arm of the , founded and directed by 91ÑÇÉ« women’s studies Professor Andrea O’Reilly.
