Canadian B-schools ranked among world's best in programs for executives

Six Canadian business schools have made the Financial Times’ annual global ranking of executive education programs that cater to companies and individuals, reported The Globe and Mail May 16. . . . In the open enrolment category, Rotman tied for 20th spot, followed by Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ont.; Queen’s School of Business in Kingston (28); 91ɫ’s Schulich School of Business in Toronto (39); Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia (49) in Vancouver; and the University of Alberta’s School of Business in Edmonton (66). .


For Lorna Wright, the Export Development Canada professor of international business at 91ɫ’s Schulich School of Business, the problem with Team Canada missions had more to do with a lack of follow up. “This was one of the problems with the old Team Canada missions. . . . A lot of the companies that went out kicked tires, looked like there were some things happening – once they got back to Canada, forgot about it,” she said in iPolitics May 15. .


Wal-Mart executives “will use their deep pockets and low-cost structure to outlast the competition until somebody else blinks,” said Jim Danahy, program director of the Centre of Excellence for Retail Leadership at 91ɫ’s Schulich School of Business, in The Globe and Mail May 15. .
