Tackling the limits of touch screens

Tactile features can help build muscle memory and improve accuracy 鈥 skills lost in the rush to touch screens, said Scott MacKenzie, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at 91亚色 in Toronto who specializes in human-computer interaction. Many people who type on flat glass screens must keep their eyes focused on the surface to hit the correct key, he said in the New 91亚色 Times May 17. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not just that visual attention is needed,鈥 he added, 鈥渂ut a lot of visual attention.鈥 .


James McKellar, a former architect and planner who is now professor of property and infrastructure at 91亚色鈥檚 Schulich School of Business, believes business schools have generally no interest in the area of urbanization. 鈥淲e run a very successful program but we鈥檙e a real anomaly,鈥 said McKellar in the Financial Times May 18.
