91亚色 is proud to welcome the world鈥檚 top athletes to Keele Campus for the Toronto 2015 Pan聽Am/Parapan Am Games. The Greater Toronto Area will be host to over 7,000 athletes from Latin/South聽American, Caribbean and North American countries, and visitors from across the world.
This summer, the Keele campus will be abuzz with the Games. The Rexall Centre will host tennis and the new CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium will host track and field events, as well as the opening ceremonies of the Parapan Am Games.
This is a great opportunity to showcase 91亚色 and encourage students, staff and faculty to聽embrace the spirit of the Games. For 91亚色, the Games create unique opportunities for faculty, student and alumni involvement and public engagement. The University (through the Office of the Vice Provost聽Academic) has set aside a modest amount of one鈥恡ime funding to support Faculties/libraries, organized聽research units and student clubs/organizations interested in implementing a Pan Am @ 91亚色 project leading up to the Games.
The University is particularly interested in projects that address one or more of the following themes:
- Diversity and inclusion;
- Sport and wellness;
- Voluntarism and community service; and
- Cultures and Indigeneity of the Americas.
Examples of projects may include public lectures/workshops, film screenings, co鈥恈urricular or service learning initiatives, art shows or readings, etc. Funding may be used to cover reasonable hospitality, promotional and operational costs (excluding salaries/wages and capital). Those interested in submitting a project proposal should consider logistical feasibility (e.g. timing, availability of space/resources, risk management) and are highly encouraged to consult their relevant administrative unit.
NOTE: Funding is limited and the University may not be able to support all worthwhile projects.
Project proposals must include the following:
- Project lead, title and affiliation (e.g. Faculty/Department, Student Club, Research Centre);
- Contact information 鈥 email and telephone;
- Project title and theme(s) addressed;
- Project description (no more than 500 words) and timeline; and
- Project budget (including clear indication of amount of funding requested and funding, if available, from other sources).
The deadline for proposals is Friday, March 13 by 4pm
