Ideas will ricochet at 91亚色 during the fifth annual TEDx91亚色U conference March 28.
Featuring a full day of inspiring talks and performances, TEDx91亚色U will occupy the Tribute Communities Recital Hall Stage in the Accolade East Building on the Keele campus. Each of the presenters and performers will explore this year's theme "Ricochet". TEDx91亚色U starts at 10:30am and will continue to 4pm.

Markus Giesler
Markus Giesler
Markus Giesler is a Canadian economist and marketing professor at the Schulich School of Business. He specializes in the study of markets as social systems and researches how ideas and things such as products, services, experiences, technologies, brands, and intellectual property acquire value over time. He is interested in technology consumption,听moral consumption, and the role of multiple stakeholders in the market creation process. Before doing his PhD in marketing, Giesler spent 10 years operating his own record label and recording business in Germany. In 2014, he was named 鈥渙ne of the most outstanding business school professors under 40 in the world.鈥 He is recognized as one of Fortune's rising professors in business and is one of听Wired鈥檚 best recognized experts in high-technology consumption. Talisha Ramsaroop
Talisha Ramsaroop
Talisha Ramsaroop听came to Canada with her mother when she was just two-years-old. Ramsaroop is the recipient of the 2014听Lincoln M Alexander award for her work as a mentor for students battling racial听stereotypes in Toronto鈥檚 urban core.听She is a community advocate and leader who is actively involved and committed to bettering her community in any way possible. She has participated in NOISE for social change, FYI creating equitable spaces, Grassroots Youth Collaborative and Act for Youth.听Ramsaroop earned the community award for her ongoing work to provide a voice to urban youth in Toronto who are struggling to overcome the barriers put in their way by racial discrimination. A graduate student at 91亚色, Ramsaroop mentors urban youth to break down the barriers caused by racial stereotypes, complete high school and look ahead to post-secondary education opportunities.

Paula Todd is an award-winning investigative journalist, digital media professor, lawyer and the author of three best-selling non-fiction books. She鈥檚 a well-known social media analyst and broadcaster who鈥檚 written, hosted and reported for Canada鈥檚 largest media outlets, including the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, CBC, TVO and CTV. Todd鈥檚 latest book鈥, Extreme Mean: Trolls, Bullies and Predators Online (M&S/ Random House), is an in-depth look at the 听surprisingly varied reasons kids, youth and adults use the Internet to humiliate, harass, bully and sexually extort friends, colleagues and strangers 鈥 and how we can help end the abuse. It was shortlisted for the 2014 Hilary Weston Writer鈥檚 Trust Prize for Non-Fiction.鈥婽odd was the first Canadian journalist to break news in an e-book when she tracked down notorious serial killer, Karla Homolka, in Guadeloupe. She details her in-person interview with the killer in Finding Karla (Kindle Single/CWG).A Quiet Courage: Inspiring Stories from All of Us (Dundurn Press), takes an international look at 听how harrowing experiences create personal power. Todd teaches broadcast and digital journalism at Seneca@91亚色 in Toronto, and chairs the Digital Issues Committee of Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, where she sits on the Board. She holds an LL.B. (JD) from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a BA in English Literature from 91亚色. She is called to the Bar of Ontario and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. She got her start in journalism as the editor of 91亚色鈥檚 Excalibur, where she proudly led the successful campaign for independent funding of the student press.
