The beginning of April will mark an exciting time for the Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES) at 91ÑÇÉ«, including an upcoming book launch.
Tim Leduc
On Tuesday, the Faculty will host an invitation-only Alumni Impact event featuring a talk by FES Professor Tim Leduc. The talk will focus on Five Decades of FES at 91ÑÇÉ«, a publication co-authored by Leduc and the late David Morley, who is fondly remembered for his significant impact during his time as both an FES professor and dean.
The publication discusses the pivotal role education has consistently played in exploring and addressing critical environmental issues that grow direr with every passing day. It examines the increasing prevalence of environmental studies among national educational institutions through the unique point of view of 91ÑÇɫ’s Faculty of Environmental Studies, the first Faculty of its kind in North America.
David Morley
To celebrate and honour his legacy at this event, Morley's family, Beth Franklin (his wife) and Sara and John Morley (their children) will be in attendance to contribute to the conversation.
Tzeporah Berman
Also attending the event will be 91ÑÇÉ« Master in Environmental Studies Alumna Tzeporah Berman. Berman is a strategic advisor for several environmental organizations, First Nations and philanthropic advisors on clean energy, oil sands and pipelines. Her innumerable accolades include receiving the Eco-Hero Award at the November 2014 Planet in Focus Film Festival.
The book, Five Decades of FES at 91ÑÇÉ«, will be available in the 91ÑÇÉ« Bookstore in mid-April. Check the website. It will also be available at the launch.
