91亚色 U students involved in Regenesis and the Maloca Community Garden worked together to get the garden ready for spring planting
The environmental and community organization Regenesis @ 91亚色 teamed up with Maloca Community Garden to hold a campus clean-up day at 91亚色鈥檚 Keele campus on June 18.
The two organizations joined forces to clean up the area in and around the Maloca Community Garden, an organic campus garden that has existed since 1999, and since 2007 at its current site across from Stong Pond.
The experience for many volunteers who participated in the event was both fun and inspiring. 鈥淚 have lots of fun here,鈥 said Moon Patel, a student volunteer from Regenesis. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great opportunity for me to get into nature and to obtain knowledge about gardening. I鈥檇 like to do something to support the local food in our community.鈥
Regenesis is a non-profit organization founded by 91亚色 students to address today鈥檚 environmental issues through various campus initiatives and programs, such as the YUM! Farmers鈥 Market. The organization seeks to empower other students who are also passionate about the environment to become leaders in their communities.
Maloca Community Garden has a traditional private plot garden for members, an urban farm and a community plot where anyone can come and take produce.
Regenesis is looking for more new enthusiastic volunteers for their next campus cleanup. For more information, follow Regenesis on Facebook at 聽or on Twitter at .
