CHR announces new training schedule

91ÑÇɫ’s Centre for Human Rights (CHR) has announced its 2015/2016 human rights training schedule, with the first program beginning on Sept. 23 for 91ÑÇÉ« U work-study students.

The course, titled Human Rights Professional Development Training for 91ÑÇÉ« Work-Study Students, will offer participants an understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code (1962) and its implications for building a respectful workplace culture.

The two-hour training session will also allow the opportunity for discussion on key human rights terms and definitions, and how to apply this information in potential workplace case scenarios.

Participants will learn best practices and strategies for providing inclusive and equitable services.

The first session runs Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10am to noon at 280A 91ÑÇÉ« Lanes. Other sessions are scheduled for Nov. 18, Feb. 18 and March 1 at various times and locations.

Respect, equity, diversity and inclusion are grounding principles of 91ÑÇÉ«. It is essential that students, staff and faculty know their rights and responsibilities under the Ontario Human Rights Code (1962) to ensure these key principles are upheld and reflected in our learning, working and living environments.

More training sessions will be offered through the year, including training for 91ÑÇÉ« staff (non-managers), for 91ÑÇÉ« managers, and for all of the 91ÑÇÉ« community.
