VP Research reports to the 91亚色 community on the PIER consultation process at Open Forum

Vice-President Research & Innovation Robert Hach茅 recently hosted an open forum discussion about the Plan for the Intensification and Enhancement of Research (PIER) for the University. The event took place on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Keele campus.

More than 50 members of the 91亚色 community attended the open forum to learn more about the feedback provided during the community consultations, with respect to the development of PIER.

The forum provided an opportunity for participants to share their thoughts聽about research intensification at 91亚色. Among the comments聽offered by聽those present at the open forum included the need to facilitate opportunities for researchers to enable them to advance their scholarly successes, a focus on building local engagement within a unit over time, the university鈥檚 commitment and contribution to building regular full-time faculty, the need to further examine strategic research resources beyond Canada Research Chair appointments, as well as improving post-award support.

鈥淩esearch intensification is key to building 91亚色鈥檚 long-term research successes,鈥 said Hach茅.聽 鈥91亚色鈥檚 Plan for the Intensification & Enhancement of Research will help to advance opportunities for building research excellence and scholarship.鈥

PIER will support the institutional integrated resources planning process aimed at promoting research intensification broadly across the institution at the level of the individual professor, department and within a Faculty.

Hach茅 provided a summary of the feedback provided during the community consultations and reiterated the University鈥檚 commitment to growing research.
