Registration for the inaugural 91ÑÇÉ« Graduate Students Research Conference in the Social Sciences and Humanities (GSRC), entitled "Visions, Collaborations, & Transformations", is now open.
The conference is a special multidisciplinary event that aims to connect participants within the social science communities at 91ÑÇÉ« and beyond. The Graduate Student Research Conference will take place on April 6 and 7, 2017 in the Victor Dahdaleh Building.
Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. "Visions, Collaborations and Transformations" will focus on the Canada150 themes identified by the Government of Canada: the environment, diversity and inclusion, Indigenous people, and youth.
Conference keynote speaker Kent Monkman is an artist well known for his provocative reinterpretations of romantic North American landscapes with themes including colonization, sexuality, loss, resilience, and the complexities of historic and contemporary Native American experience. The event is a pay-what-you-can admission (a suggested donation of $15 to $20), and registration includes two light breakfasts, two lunches, as well as a reception at The Underground on April 6. Registration also includes entry to panel sessions, Kent Monkman’s keynote address, Eddy Robinson’s speech and performance, as well as, the innovative and open space sessions.
